Stephen Colbert wins space station name contest
Stephen Colbert is notorious for using his popularity to get his name on stuff. He's got a Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor (Americone Dream), a bridge in Hungary, an eagle, and a species of spider, all named after him.
So why not the new space station, too?
NASA held a naming contest in which they pitted their crappy choice "Serenity" with users writing in their choices.
That's where Stephen came in. He announced it via his show and thus, his minions (me, too) were put into play.
I think they should give it to him. He won fair and square. The voters have spoken!
NASA spokesman John Yembrick said that NASA will decided the winning name in April, but will give top vote-getters "the most consideration."
Which, in English, means that they're still going to name that rustbucket "Serenity". Get 'em Stephen!
